Community Gardens

A place to grow, play, and connect.

Deltona Community Gardens started in 2018, when Jim and Paula Pescha turned a patch of city land at Vann Park into a place where neighbors could grow something together. It's still exactly that, at 675 Elgrove Drive.

Help the Gardens Grow

You bring the seeds. We bring the rest.

Gardeners rent a raised bed for the season and grow whatever they like. Vegetables, flowers, herbs, the thing they've been meaning to try. We provide the tools, the mulch, the water, and the hoses. They bring the seeds and the idea.

Nobody does it alone out here

Our gardeners trade advice on what actually grows in each Florida season, and they water each other's beds when someone is out of town. Extra produce goes into the blessing box on site, where any family in the neighborhood can take what they need. There's a little free library there too.

More than the beds

The garden is more than the beds. We're expanding the Jim and Paula Pescha Butterfly Gardens, tending a growing fruit grove, and running "how to" sessions at our monthly meetings on what to plant, when to plant it, and how to harvest. Those meetings are open to everyone. You don't need to rent a bed to come learn.

Local artists have left their mark here, including our mural and butterfly sculpture, and we partner with schools and youth groups to get kids out to the beds.
